Verifying your ID to Reset your Okta Password or Unlock your Okta Account

Goal: Samsara uses an app called Incode to verify your identity before resetting or unlocking your Okta account. This guide explains how to enroll in Incode and how to use it to unlock your Okta account or reset your Okta password on your own.

Incode ID Enrollment and How It Works for Resets

  • You will be asked to scan your government-issued ID and a selfie
  • If you have already enrolled in Incode and uploaded your ID within the last year, you will not need your physical ID to reset your Okta password or unlock your Okta account. You'll need only a selfie to verify your identity.

Prerequisites 

Before you begin:

  • When enrolling: have a valid form of government-issued identification, such as a driver’s license, identification card, or passport.

  • If you have any questions or need assistance setting up your account, please send an email to biztech@samsara.com or reach out in the #help-biztech channel in Slack.

  • Please ensure you are using a smartphone (for example, an iPhone or Android phone) to complete this process. Tablets and iPads are not supported for Incode verification.

 

How to Enroll in Incode

  1. On your computer, open a window in Chrome and go to https://samsara.okta.com/
  2. Type in your username and select Next

  1. When prompted to select a security method, choose Password.

  1. Instead of typing your password, select Forgot Password?

  1. You will arrive at a screen prompting you to continue. Select Continue.

  1. You will be redirected to register in Incode and will receive a unique QR code. The page will look similar to the image below. Using your smartphone, scan the QR code and follow the link to continue registering in Incode.

  1. You will be guided through the Incode setup process on your mobile device. Follow the on-screen instructions. For a seamless experience, we recommend reviewing Best Practices for a smooth ID Verification for examples of valid IDs and tips for capturing a successful selfie.

  2. After successfully completing Incode enrollment, return to your computer and finish resetting your Okta password.

     

Unlocking your Okta Account or Resetting your Okta Password

  1. On your computer, open a window in Chrome and go to https://samsara.okta.com/
  2. If your account is locked, enter your Samsara username and select Unlock Account. Then skip to step 6.

    • If you forgot your password, enter your Samsara username and select Next.

  1. When prompted to select a security method, choose Password.

  1. Instead of typing your password, select Forgot Password?

  1. You will arrive at a screen prompting you to continue. Select Continue.

  1. You will now see a unique QR code. The page will look similar to the image below. Using your smartphone, scan the QR code and follow the prompts on your phone to verify your identity. 7. After successfully completing identity verification in Incode, return to your computer and finish resetting your password or unlocking your account in Okta.
