If you were blocked from signing in to a Samsara application, your Android device did not pass one of our security checks. Find your check below and follow the steps.
Contents
1. Device Is Rooted
Why is this a problem?
Rooting gives unrestricted administrator access to the Android operating system, which bypasses the security protections Google and your device manufacturer put in place. Because rooted devices cannot meet Samsara's security requirements, they are not allowed to access company resources.
How do I fix this?
If you did not root your device on purpose and this check is still failing, your device may have been compromised without your knowledge. Contact #help-biztech on Slack right away and include:
- Your device model (for example, Samsung Galaxy S24)
- Check name: Ensure Device Is Not Rooted
- Source: Okta Device Assurance
- When the problem started
2. Screen Lock Is Not Configured
Why is this a problem?
A screen lock — a PIN, password, or pattern — stops anyone from opening your device if it is ever lost or stolen. This check fails if no screen lock is set, or if the type of screen lock does not meet Samsara's minimum requirements.
How do I fix this?
Menu names vary slightly between Android phone makers, so yours may look a little different.
- Open Settings on your Android device.
- Tap Security (or Lock Screen, depending on your device).
- Tap Screen Lock.
- Choose one of the following:
- PIN — 6 digits or more recommended
- Password — a mix of letters and numbers for the strongest protection
- Pattern — draw a unique pattern across the grid
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set and confirm your screen lock.
Still not working?
Post in the #help-biztech Slack channel and include:
- Your device model (for example, Samsung Galaxy S24)
- Check name: Require Screen Lock Configuration
- Source: Okta Device Assurance
