Goal: Learn how to connect to Okta, a Single-Sign On provider for accessing various apps and services.
Note: If you are unable to access Okta and cannot access Google or Slack, please email biztech@samsara.com (can use your personal email) or reach out in #help-biztech in Slack
Access Okta Homepage:
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Visit https://samsara.okta.com
3. Once the Okta homepage loads, bookmark the site for easy access.
Simplifying Accessing your Apps with Okta Browser Plugin
1. Locate the puzzle piece icon near the profile icon in Chrome.
2. Find `Okta Browser Plugin` and click the pin icon next to it. (If you do not see the Okta Browser plug in be sure you are signed into Chrome using your Samsara profile)
3. Click the pinned Okta plugin to reveal your apps.
4. Search for apps assigned to you.
5. Launch any app directly from this plugin.
Adding New Apps to Okta:
1. To add new Samsara approved apps to your Okta, reach out in #help-biztech.
2. To request a new app to Samsara use the Zip app located in your Okta.
Tip: Remember to request one app at at ime in a ticket to speed up your request. Creating multiple tickets to request multiple apps is recommended. The SamsaraChatBot bot in #help-biztech can assign only one app at a time to a user.
Multi-Factor Authentication
1. You should already have the Okta Verify app installed for MFA.
2. Additional authentication methods can be set up by clicking your name in the upper-right corner, then navigating to settings.
3. It is recommended to set up your fingerprint for additional authentication, if your computer is configured with a fingerprint reading sensor. To set up your finger print aas a security method, select set up next to `Security Key or Biometric Authenticator.`
4. When prompted for a passkey choose `Chrome Profile`
5. Please refer to Enrolling Alternative Multifactor Options in Okta to add other authentication methods to your Okta account
StateRamp Okta
As part of Samsara's ongoing work to become StateRAMP certified, some application, that house customer data and information, are authenticated through another Okta environment.
The authentication process to these apps is:
- Sign in with your main Okta account
- Redirected to StateRamp Okta
- You will receive a second biometric-only prompt
- You will then be able to access to the app
