Okta provides a variety of factors that you can enroll to serve as a second factor to your password. On top of the Okta Verify mobile app, you can also set up the following technologies:

• Touch ID on your Mac
• Fingerprint reader or camera (Windows Hello) on your PC
• Yubikeys
• Google Authenticator (TOTP)

This guide is specifically tested and maintained for Google Chrome. Other browsers should give the same ability, but are not officially supported by BizTech and Security.

Adding MFA Options

From your Okta portal (samsara.okta.com), click your name in the top right corner and then click Settings.

Scroll down on this page, and you'll find a section called "Security Methods."

Adding a Biometric MFA Option

Follow the steps in the section above called "Adding MFA Options", and click the Set up button next to "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator."

After authenticating again, you'll be taken to a screen with a setup button - click the Setup button under "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator" to start the setup process.

Click Setup again at the next screen.

Fingerprint MFA on Mac

On macOS, Chrome will now prompt you to create a passkey. This is another name for the underlying technology that allows the biometric sensors and the browser to communicate. Click the Continue button to create the passkey.

You'll next be prompted by the Mac to touch your Touch ID sensor to confirm your identity and complete the passkey setup.

You should now be done!

Fingerprint MFA on Windows

On Windows, Chrome will open a system box asking you to authenticate with Windows Hello. Scan your fingerprint or look at the facial recognition camera (depending on which sensors your laptop is equipped with).

You should now be done!

Adding a Yubikey MFA Option

Follow the steps in the section above called "Adding MFA Options", and click the Set up button next to "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator."

After authenticating again, you'll be taken to a screen with a setup button - click the Setup button under "Security Key or Biometric Authenticator" to start the setup process.

Click Setup again at the next screen.

You will be prompted to create a passkey next - instead of doing so, click the "Try another way" button on the bottom left of the dialog box.

Click "USB security key" from the menu of options given.

Insert your Yubikey if it is not already inserted, and touch it when prompted to confirm the enrollment.

You should now be done!
