Google Chrome Personal Account Sync FAQ:
I get an error that I cannot sync a personal account in Chrome.
- If you get the below error message, you are trying to sign in and enable sync in Google Chrome with a non-Samsara account:
Why does Samsara disallow sync for personal profiles?
- Signing into a personal Google Chrome profile synchronizes a lot of data under the hood that you may not realize - this includes Chrome Extensions, bookmarks, and even your browsing history from other devices. Security wants to ensure that you are not compromising your privacy by having this data on a work device.
Can I still sign in to my personal Google account?
- Yes, you can still sign in to your own Google accounts in Chrome, but you will not be able to enable the browser sync functionality with those personal Google accounts.
How can I keep my personal browsing separate on my work computer?
- If you wish to sign in to your personal accounts on your work computer, you can still create a profile in Google Chrome to maintain separation. To do so, click your picture in the top right corner of Chrome (next to the three dots icon), then “Add New Profile” and follow the prompts.
What if I want to sync content from my personal Gmail to my work laptop?
- Security strongly encourages you to keep your work and personal information separate, and does not have a supported path for syncing personal information to a work device.
Google Chrome Extension Issues?
Selecting "Remove" will uninstall an extension. A common troubleshooting step is to remove and reinstall problematic extensions. Things like unwanted ads or unknown add ons may be the result of user installed extensions.
