Okta FastPass lets you sign in to samsara.okta.com and most Samsara apps from a Samsara-managed macOS or Windows laptop without typing your password. This page is the shared overview for all users. For step-by-step enrollment, follow the OS-specific guide for macOS, Windows, or Windows 365 (VDI).
Why Use Okta FastPass?
Passwordless sign-in: Sign in to samsara.okta.com and most Samsara apps without entering your password.
Stronger security: FastPass uses device-bound cryptographic keys plus your biometric or device PIN, making it significantly harder to phish than passwords or SMS codes.
Consistent experience: The same low-friction sign-in works across Okta and Okta-protected apps on every enrolled device.
Your biometrics stay private: Your fingerprint or face data never leaves your device. Neither Okta nor Samsara can see, receive, or store your biometric information.
Who Can Use Okta FastPass?
In scope: Samsara-managed macOS and Windows laptops, and supported VDIs such as Windows 365, used by Samsara employees.
Who Can Not Use Okta FastPass?
Not in scope: Chromebooks, Linux laptops, personal laptops, and shared devices.
🚫 Important — Shared Device Users: Do not enroll Okta FastPass on a shared or kiosk device. FastPass is tied to a specific device and account, and enrolling on a shared device can lock other users out of their accounts.
Prerequisites
These apply to every operating system. OS-specific install steps for Okta Verify live in the macOS, Windows, and Windows VDI guides.
You can sign in to samsara.okta.com today using your existing password and MFA factor.
You are using a Samsara-managed macOS or Windows computer (not a personal or shared device).
Okta Verify is installed on your laptop. If it is missing, see your OS-specific guide for install steps, or contact #help-biztech if you can’t find it in Managed Software Center (macOS) or Company Portal (Windows).
Biometrics are set up on your laptop: Touch ID on macOS or Windows Hello on Windows. Without biometrics, you will not be able to complete passwordless sign-in with FastPass.
Bluetooth is enabled on both your laptop and your personal phone (required for account pairing during enrollment).
Note: The Okta Verify app on your computer is separate from the Okta Verify app on your phone. The desktop app primarily enables Okta FastPass for passwordless login, while the mobile app handles push notifications and TOTP codes.
