This guide is for Samsara-managed Windows laptops. If you use a Mac, see Enrolling Okta FastPass on macOS. If you use a Windows 365 VDI, see Enrolling Okta FastPass on Windows 365 (VDI).
This guide walks you through how to enroll in Okta FastPass and use it to sign in to Samsara apps without typing your password, using a Samsara-managed Windows laptop.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- Okta Verify installed on your laptop. If it is missing, install it via Company Portal.
- Windows Hello configured (fingerprint, face, or PIN). Biometrics is optional; a Windows Hello PIN alone works. If you prefer not to use fingerprint or face recognition, remove them under Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options (not inside Okta Verify) and keep only the PIN.
- Bluetooth enabled on both your laptop and your phone (required for account pairing during enrollment).
- Your phone with Okta Verify already enrolled for your Samsara account.
🚫 Important — Shared Device Users: Do not enroll Okta FastPass on a shared or kiosk device. FastPass is tied to a specific device and account, and enrolling on a shared device can lock other users out of their accounts.
Step 1 — Enroll Samsara Account to Okta FastPass
- Check your system tray (bottom-right of your screen) for the Okta Verify icon
. Click it and select “Open Okta Verify”.
- Click “Import Account”.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both your Windows laptop and your personal phone before proceeding.
- On your Windows laptop: Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices and toggle Bluetooth on.
- On your phone: Go to Settings → Bluetooth and toggle Bluetooth on.
- On your mobile device, open the Okta Verify app and tap on the arrow to the right of the samsara.okta.com account.
- Scroll down and tap on the “Export Account” button.
- If biometrics (Touch ID, Face ID, or fingerprint) aren't already enabled for Okta Verify on your mobile device, you can enable them now when prompted. User verification is required to securely add your account to another device, but biometrics is optional. If you prefer not to use biometrics, disable them in your phone's Settings and Okta Verify will use your device passcode instead.
Your phone will display an 8-character code below the QR Code (ref. the image below). Enter that code on your Windows when prompted.
- Your Windows will then display a 6-digit PIN. Enter that PIN on your phone to confirm the connection.
Enable Windows Hello confirmation when requested for passwordless login.
- Scan your fingerprint or use the face recognition camera when prompted to complete the Windows Hello confirmation setup.
You are now setup with Okta FastPass, move to Step 2 on how to use FastPass.
Step 2 — Sign-in using Okta FastPass on your Windows laptop
After your account is added to Okta Verify and bound to your laptop with Windows Hello, FastPass is ready to use.
- Go to samsara.okta.com in your browser.
- On the sign-in screen type in your username and click next.
- When prompted, confirm with Windows Hello (fingerprint, face, or PIN;Biometrics is optional; the Windows Hello PIN works on its own). You should be signed in without entering your password.
Note: FastPass is enabled per device. If you get a new Samsara-managed Windows laptop, repeat Step 1 on that device.
